Description

This classic burger recipe features juicy ground chuck patties topped with melted cheddar cheese, creamy avocado slices, and a perfectly fried egg. Finished with a tangy homemade special sauce and served on toasted sesame seed buns, it’s a satisfying and flavorful meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burgers

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 sesame seed buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Special Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons relish
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Special Sauce: In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, relish, white vinegar, mustard, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until smooth. Refrigerate to let the flavors meld while you prepare the other components.
  2. Toast the Buns: Spread butter evenly on the cut sides of the sesame seed buns. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the buns, butter-side down, until golden brown and slightly crisp. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef Patties: Shape the ground chuck into four evenly sized patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, flipping once. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
  4. Fry the Eggs: In a separate skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Crack the eggs in and fry until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny, or adjust to your preferred doneness. Remove from heat.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Spread the prepared special sauce on the bottom halves of the toasted buns. Layer with avocado slices, then place the cheesy beef patties on top. Add a fried egg onto each patty, then cap with the top bun halves.
  6. Serve Immediately: Serve the assembled burgers promptly to enjoy the contrast of warm, melted cheese and runny egg yolk with the creamy avocado and tangy sauce.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chuck for ground beef with higher fat content if desired for juicier patties.
  • Adjust the seasoning in the special sauce to taste, adding more or less relish or mustard according to preference.
  • For a fully cooked egg, fry longer until yolk sets.
  • Toasting the buns adds a delightful crunch and prevents sogginess from the sauce.
  • Serve with fries or a side salad for a complete meal.
