Description

This creamy and flavorful Chicken in Boursin Garlic Herb Cream Sauce is a quick and elegant dish perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion. Tender chicken breasts are seared to golden perfection and smothered in a luscious sauce made with Boursin Garlic & Herb cheese, garlic, and rich cream. The sauce is enhanced with savory chicken broth and fresh parsley for a vibrant finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 package (5.2 oz) Boursin Garlic & Herb cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides generously with salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side depending on thickness. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn the garlic.
  4. Deglaze the Pan: Pour in the chicken broth and use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. This adds deep flavor to the sauce.
  5. Make the Cream Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the heavy cream and Boursin Garlic & Herb cheese. Stir gently until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Simmer Chicken in Sauce: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon the sauce over them, and simmer for 3-5 minutes. This warms the chicken through again and allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the chicken and sauce before serving to add a pop of color and fresh herbaceous taste.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, simmer it a bit longer before adding the chicken back in.
  • To make this dish lighter, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, though the sauce will be less rich.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
  • Make sure not to overcook the chicken to keep it juicy and tender.
