Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Add wet ingredients: Stir in sour cream and milk until combined.
- Combine and fold: Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined. Gently fold in cranberries, orange zest, and nuts if using.
- Bake: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan, smooth the top, and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve.
