Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with these Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes. Creamy, rich, and flavorful, they are the perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Potatoes:

  • 3 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed

Cream Cheese Mixture:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup milk (more as needed)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Potatoes: Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold water, add salt, and bring to a boil. Simmer for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Mix Cream Cheese Mixture: Drain the potatoes, return them to the pot. Add cream cheese, sour cream, butter, and garlic powder if using. Mash until smooth, adding milk gradually.
  3. Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with herbs, and serve warm.

Notes

  • These mashed potatoes can be made ahead and reheated with a splash of milk.
