Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 chicken breasts, cut in half lengthwise
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
Sauce
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or dry white wine
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create thinner pieces. Season both sides of the chicken pieces generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavor.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and sear each side until cooked through and golden brown, approximately 4-5 minutes per side depending on thickness. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the flour to the remaining oil and butter, stirring well to form a roux. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Slowly pour in the chicken broth or dry white wine, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Then add the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for several minutes until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally. Finally, stir in the freshly grated parmesan cheese until it melts smoothly into the sauce.
- Finish the Dish: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet and spoon the creamy garlic parmesan sauce over the top. Let everything warm together for a minute or two, allowing the chicken to soak up the flavorful sauce. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley just before serving for a pop of color and freshness.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken broth with dry white wine or vegetable broth for a different flavor profile.
- Ensure the chicken breasts are evenly sliced to cook uniformly and remain juicy.
- Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for best melting and taste.
- Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
