Description

This Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skillet recipe features tender chicken breasts seared to golden perfection and smothered in a rich, velvety garlic and parmesan cream sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s an easy yet elegant dish perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut in half lengthwise
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or dry white wine
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create thinner pieces. Season both sides of the chicken pieces generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavor.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and sear each side until cooked through and golden brown, approximately 4-5 minutes per side depending on thickness. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the flour to the remaining oil and butter, stirring well to form a roux. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Slowly pour in the chicken broth or dry white wine, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Then add the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for several minutes until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally. Finally, stir in the freshly grated parmesan cheese until it melts smoothly into the sauce.
  4. Finish the Dish: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet and spoon the creamy garlic parmesan sauce over the top. Let everything warm together for a minute or two, allowing the chicken to soak up the flavorful sauce. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley just before serving for a pop of color and freshness.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken broth with dry white wine or vegetable broth for a different flavor profile.
  • Ensure the chicken breasts are evenly sliced to cook uniformly and remain juicy.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for best melting and taste.
  • Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
