Description

This Easy Cream Puff Dessert combines a light, airy pastry crust with a creamy, vanilla pudding filling topped with fluffy whipped topping and optional chocolate drizzle. Perfect as a no-fuss American-style dessert that’s sure to impress with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs

For the Filling

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (5.1 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • Chocolate syrup for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dough: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a medium saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil. Add flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Add Eggs to Dough: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  3. Bake the Crust: Spread the dough evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
  4. Prepare Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk, then beat until the mixture thickens.
  5. Assemble the Dessert: Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the cooled crust. Top with whipped topping.
  6. Add Final Touches and Chill: Drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired. Refrigerate the dessert for at least 1 hour before serving to allow it to set.

Notes

  • Ensure the crust is completely cooled before spreading the filling to prevent it from sinking.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the filling.
  • Alternatively, use chocolate pudding mix instead of vanilla for a different flavor variation.
