Description

Enjoy a savory and satisfying meal with these Foil Packet Cheesy Sausage and Peppers. This easy-to-make recipe combines smoked sausage, colorful bell peppers, and melted cheese for a delicious and hassle-free dish perfect for grilling or baking.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Foil Packets:

  • 12 oz smoked sausage or kielbasa (sliced into rounds)
  • 2 bell peppers (any color, sliced)
  • 1 small red onion (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the grill to medium heat or the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, toss together the sausage, bell peppers, onion, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Assemble Foil Packets: Tear four large sheets of heavy-duty foil and divide the mixture evenly among them. Fold the foil over the ingredients and crimp the edges to seal tightly, creating a packet.
  3. Cook: Place packets on the grill or a baking sheet in the oven. Cook for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through if grilling, until vegetables are tender and sausage is heated through.
  4. Add Cheese: Carefully open each packet and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Reseal loosely and let sit for 2–3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  5. Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley before serving if desired.

Notes

  • Use spicy sausage for extra heat or add sliced mushrooms for more veggies.
  • These packets can be prepped ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to cook.
