Description

Marry Me Chicken Pasta is a creamy, comforting one-pan meal featuring tender seasoned chicken breasts cooked to golden perfection and tossed with pasta in a rich sauce made from heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. This delicious American main course comes together quickly on the stovetop, making it perfect for an easy weeknight dinner that tastes indulgent and impressive.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasonings

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes (in oil, drained)

Pasta and Garnish

  • 8 oz pasta (such as penne or fettuccine)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Season the chicken: While the pasta cooks, pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil and butter together in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Simmer the sauce for 3 to 4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  5. Combine chicken and pasta: Slice the cooked chicken breasts and return them to the skillet with the sauce. Add the cooked pasta and toss everything together to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy sauce. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes to warm through.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh basil or parsley over the dish if desired, then serve the Marry Me Chicken Pasta hot for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts for more juiciness.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a bit of heat.
  • Stir in fresh spinach during the last simmering step for extra greens.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with garlic bread or a crisp green salad.
