Description

These Meatball Monster Sandwiches are a fun and spooky twist on classic meatball subs, perfect for Halloween parties or a kid-friendly dinner. Made with warm meatballs, marinara sauce, and gooey cheese, these sandwiches are sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sandwiches:

  • 12 cooked meatballs (homemade or frozen, warmed)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 6 sub rolls or hoagie buns
  • 12 slices mozzarella or provolone cheese

For Decoration:

  • 12 pitted black olives (sliced for eyes)
  • 6 pickle slices or red bell pepper strips (for tongues)
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese or mayonnaise (for “eye glue”)
  • Butter (optional for toasting rolls)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare meatballs: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Warm the meatballs in marinara sauce until hot and well coated.
  2. Prepare the rolls: Slice sub rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through. Optionally, butter and lightly toast the rolls.
  3. Assemble the sandwiches: Place 2 cheese slices in each roll, add meatballs with sauce, and fold the top slightly to resemble an open “mouth.”
  4. Add decorations: Use cream cheese or mayo to attach olive slices as eyes. Insert pickle slices or bell pepper strips as tongues.
  5. Bake: Arrange the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes until the cheese melts.
  6. Serve: Serve warm for a spooky meal!

Notes

  • These sandwiches are great for Halloween-themed parties.
  • Mini sandwich rolls can be used to make smaller ‘monster sliders’.
