Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2-pound bag tater tots, cooked
- 1 ½ cups shredded Colby Jack cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Broiler and Brown Beef: Preheat your oven broiler to high. In a large pan over medium-high heat, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, ground cumin, salt, and red pepper flakes. Break up the meat with a spatula and cook for 7 to 10 minutes until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain excess grease from the pan.
- Assemble and Broil: Spread the cooked tater tots evenly on a 9×13-inch baking sheet. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef over the tater tots, then sprinkle the shredded Colby Jack cheese on top. Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler and broil for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve the totchos immediately with your choice of favorite toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, salsa, jalapeños, or chopped cilantro to enhance the flavors.
Notes
- Make sure to watch the tots closely while broiling to prevent burning as broilers can vary in intensity.
- Drain excess grease from the beef to keep the dish from becoming too oily.
- Feel free to customize with additional toppings like diced tomatoes, green onions, or black olives.
- Using pre-cooked tater tots saves time and ensures they stay crispy.
