Scale
Dry Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
For Topping:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Add the buttermilk and stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Bake the biscuits: Drop 1/4 cup portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Prepare the topping: While the biscuits bake, mix the melted butter with parsley and garlic powder.
- Finish and serve: Brush the butter mixture over the warm biscuits immediately after they come out of the oven. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the dough.
- Leftover biscuits can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in a low oven.
