Ingredients
Scale
Crab Filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup imitation crab meat or lump crab meat, chopped
- 2 green onions, finely sliced
- 1–2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Sandwich Assembly
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 slices sourdough or white sandwich bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Serving
- Sweet chili sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Crab Filling: In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix the softened cream cheese, chopped crab meat, finely sliced green onions, sriracha, soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined and smooth.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread the crab mixture evenly over two slices of bread. Top each with shredded mozzarella cheese, then cover with the remaining two slices of bread to form two sandwiches.
- Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on the outside surfaces of each sandwich to ensure a golden brown crust when grilled.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and allow it to warm up.
- Cook the Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side, pressing slightly with a spatula. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
- Serve Warm: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice them if desired, and serve immediately with sweet chili sauce on the side for dipping, if using.
Notes
- For extra crunch and texture, add a few wonton strips or crushed wonton chips inside the sandwich before grilling.
- You can substitute spicy mayo or wasabi mayo in place of sriracha for a different heat profile and flavor variation.
