Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings and Sauces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cups beef broth
Pasta and Dairy
- 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the beef: Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Sauté aromatics: Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add seasonings: Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute to blend the flavors.
- Cook pasta in broth: Pour in beef broth and stir in the pasta. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Finish with cream and cheese: Stir in heavy cream, shredded cheddar, and grated Parmesan. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped parsley on top if desired, then serve the creamy ground beef pasta warm.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative to beef.
- Add spinach or peas for extra vegetables and nutrients.
- For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes or substitute pepper jack cheese.
